FL online tax lien auctions starting June 1st, 12 counties online w/ Bid4Assets
SILVER SPRING, Md., May 1 /PRNewswire/ -- Bid4Assets, Inc., the nation's leader in online auction solutions for federal, state and local government, announced today that twelve Florida County Tax Collectors' offices will conduct their 2007 Tax Lien Sale with Bid4Assets. The Tax Collectors are from returning Bid4Assets' county customers: Brevard, Charlotte, Duval, Escambia, Gilchrist, Sarasota, Sumter, and Walton. Moving their auctions online for the first time are the Tax Collectors of Alachua, Gadsden, Santa Rosa and Taylor.
In Florida, tax certificate sales are held on or before June 1. Bidding starts at 18% and continues downward in increments of .25%. The bidder who offers the lowest interest rate on the debt wins the certificate.
A dedicated, unique website will be available this week for each tax sale and will include information on registration, bidding and deposit procedures and deadlines. The tax sale sites will also provide interested participants with a resource center and a demonstration site to allow participants to familiarize themselves with the auction system. Each County Tax Collector's website will be available at:

What are tax lien certificates?
If you are late on your property tax bill, the county government seeks investors to balance their budget. Your tax bill will be bought by an investor and when you pay your tax bill with penalties and interest, the net proceeds go to the investor.
This investment venue is little known because government agencies stink at marketing. But that doesn't mean you can't take advantage of it!
Remember, without tax lien investors, many counties would have smaller budgets, hurting schools, police, roads, and other public services.
